2026 Board Election: Participate in Self-Regulation by Casting Your Vote
Voting in the Ontario College of Pharmacists (College) Board election will take place from July 6 to August 5, 2026. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will receive voting instructions from Simply Voting, a secure voting platform, on July 6 and are encouraged to cast their ballot. Below, Board Vice Chair Siva Sivapalan shares why your vote matters.
Dear Colleague,
As a pharmacy professional, one of the things I value most about our profession is the privilege of self-regulation. It is a unique opportunity that enables us, the practitioners who understand pharmacy practice directly, to guide and uphold the professional standards in the public interest. Our involvement in self-regulation strengthens our profession and helps maintain high standards of pharmacy care and medication safety.
The 2026 Board election is your opportunity to contribute to self-regulation. The individuals elected to the Board will help shape the College’s work by setting strategic direction, approving policies and by-laws, and overseeing the College’s regulatory responsibilities. For this reason, it is important that as many eligible voters as possible participate in selecting these leaders.
I strongly encourage registrants to vote. By participating in Board elections, you help ensure:
- The College remains accountable to its public protection mandate;
- The Board benefits from the knowledge, expertise and perspectives of pharmacy professionals; and
- The profession continues to play an active role in shaping its future through strong and effective self-regulation.
Having served on the Board for more than six years, I have seen firsthand the value of thoughtful governance and diverse perspectives around the Board table. The decisions made by the Board influence not only the practice of pharmacy, but also how we continue to uphold the high standards of care, safety, and professionalism that the public expect from us.
I know everyone has a busy schedule, but I encourage you to take a few moments to review the candidate information and cast your ballot. Your vote is important – please make it count.
