New AIMS e-Learning Modules Available

Five new e-Learning modules are now available to support implementation of key requirements of the AIMS Program and the supplemental Standard of Practice.

The modules should be completed in the following order:

  1. The Value of Medication Incident Reporting
Includes the “why” behind the AIMS Program, the four components of the program, definitions of incidents and near misses and why reporting is a critical component of medication safety
  2. Documenting Medication Events
Includes the difference between reporting and documenting, when and what to document and how documentation supports continuous quality improvement
  3. Analyzing Medication Events
Includes how to shift from identifying problems to developing solutions, use different frameworks to complete a root-cause analysis and understand the value of a safety self-assessment
  4. Sharing Learnings from Medication Events
Includes the importance of knowledge exchange within the pharmacy, when and how to communicate events with your team, and how to maximize the quarterly CQI meetings
  5. Building a Safety Culture
Includes how the four components of the AIMS Program work together to support a culture of safety and the important role the Designated Manager plays in creating a pharmacy environment that supports medication safety

Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff are strongly encouraged to complete the series of modules to support their understanding and application of medication safety. Each module takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.
