NAPRA Releases Updated Compounding Competencies
November 5, 2026The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) has announced updated guidance for entry-to-practice compounding competencies for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Updates include removing sterile and hazardous compounding competence from entry-to-practice requirements.
The College is aware of NAPRA’s updated guidance and will consult with system partners to determine and confirm an approach to compounding competence that is appropriate for Ontario. Once the details of the provincial approach have been determined, the College will communicate this information.
No changes to current requirements
Until the College announces its approach, there are no changes to Ontario’s current entry-to-practice requirements for compounding training.
Current expectations and requirements related to compounding competencies remain in effect.
The College will continue to share information as it becomes available.
