If you are a pharmacy technician with a full/regular, unrestricted license to practise pharmacy in Canada outside of Ontario, follow the steps below to register in Ontario. You must maintain your full licensure continuously until you have been granted a certificate of registration as a pharmacy technician in Ontario.
As of January 1, 2026: If you meet the eligibility criteria under the As of Right legislation and wish to immediately begin practicing in Ontario while completing your registration requirements, please create an online account with the College (see Step 1 below) and submit a completed attestation. Step 1: Create an Online Account with the College
- Login here or from the OCP homepage
- Pay the initial application fee
- Submit supporting documentation of your evidence of identity and your citizenship or status in Canada
- Submit evidence of your education. This document does not have to be notarized but must be translated into English or French.
- You must arrange for letters of standing to be sent directly to the College from all jurisdictions worldwide where you currently or previously engaged in the practice of pharmacy or held licensure, including from any Canadian jurisdictions where you currently hold active full/regular registration. A letter of standing is considered current for six months from the date it is issued or until the license expiry date indicated on the letter of standing, whichever comes first.
Step 2: Jurisprudence, Ethics and Professionalism Exam

- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the exam fee
Step 3: Final Application for Certificate of Registration as a Pharmacy Technician
- Obtain personal professional liability insurance
- Submit a police background check
- Login to your account to apply
- Pay the final application fees
- Application fee
- New applicant registration fee

A pharmacy technician licensed in another Canadian province who plans ahead to meet application deadlines could complete their entire registration process within three months.
