You are eligible for reinstatement as an Ontario pharmacy technician if you resigned within the past three years (i.e., within three years of your resignation date) and were in good standing at the time of your resignation.
Reinstate Directly into Part A
Follow these steps if at the time of your resignation you were:
- In Part A of the Two-Part Register, AND
- NOT in the Quality Assurance (QA) Program process, including:
- Being notified that you were selected for a Self-Assessment (selection notices are typically sent by email in September) or a Practice Assessment
- Being incomplete on the Self-Assessment or unsuccessful on the Practice Assessment

Steps
- Obtain personal professional liability insurance
Submit a police background check
Submit supporting documentation that confirm your identity and your citizenship or status in Canada
Arrange (if applicable) for current letter(s) of good standing to be sent directly to the College from all other jurisdictions where you have practiced pharmacy or been licensed since your last registration with OCP was confirmed. A letter of standing is considered current for six months from the date it is issued or until the license expiry date indicated on the letter of standing, whichever comes first.
Submit your application - Pay all required fees, including:
- Renewal fee for Pharmacy Technician Part A
- Reinstatement fee
- Any outstanding fees or monies owed to the College
Reinstate into Part B:
Follow these steps if at the time of your resignation you were:
- In Part B of the Two-Part Register, OR
- Participating in a Quality Assurance (QA) Program process, including:
- Being notified that you were selected for a Self-Assessment (selection notices are typically sent by email in January) or a Practice Assessment
- Being unsuccessful on the Self-Assessment or Practice Assessment
Steps
- Submit a police background check
- Submit supporting documentation that confirm your identity and your citizenship or status in Canada
- Arrange (if applicable) for current letter(s) of good standing to be sent directly to the College from all other jurisdictions where you have practiced pharmacy or been licensed since your last registration with OCP was confirmed. A letter of standing is considered current for six months from the date it is issued or until the license expiry date indicated on the letter of standing, whichever comes first.
- Submit your application for reinstatement
- Pay all required fees, including:
- Renewal fee for Pharmacy Technician Part B
- Reinstatement fee
- Any outstanding fees or monies owed to the College
If you wish to move to Part A (provide patient care), you must successfully complete the process to move from Part B to Part A.
You are NOT eligible to be reinstated if:
- You resigned more than three years ago (i.e., more than three years since your resignation date). Please see the Temporary Leave and Resigning Options page for your re-registration options. Email [email protected] if you have any questions.
- You had any outstanding conduct, incompetence or incapacity matters with the College or in any other jurisdiction. Email [email protected] if you have any questions.
- Your certificate of registration was revoked. You may only be reinstated by order of a panel of the Discipline Committee.
Time & Cost Estimates
After a former Ontario pharmacy technician has submitted all required documentation and completed all the steps for reinstatement, the reinstatement application will be reviewed and processed within approximately 10 business days. Applicants will be notified by email if any additional documentation or clarification is required. Applicants should not make firm employment commitments until they have received written confirmation of their effective reinstatement date.

Estimated third-party fees are $30, plus (for Part A registration) the annual liability insurance premium.
