New Designated Manager AIMS Program Checklist Available

New requirements for the Assurance and Improvement in Medication Safety (AIMS) Program come into effect on January 1, 2027.

To help Designated Managers prepare for these changes, a new Designated Manager Checklist for AIMS Program Requirements is now available. The checklist shares the key steps Designated Managers should take in 2026 and 2027 to ensure they are compliant with the updated AIMS Program requirements.

Data Sharing Agreement Now Available

The Data Sharing Agreement with ISMP Canada is now available as part of the updated AIMS Program requirements. This agreement enables community pharmacies to share de-identified incident and near miss data with the National Incident Data Repository (NIDR) for analysis and shared learning to advance medication safety. Designated Managers are asked to review and execute the agreement directly with ISMP Canada. The Ontario College of Pharmacists will cover the annual $70 NIDR data processing fee to support a strong culture of medication and patient safety.

The data sharing agreement should only be completed once the pharmacy has selected an incident management platform.
