Applications are open from April 13 to May 1, 2026, closing at 5:00 p.m. EDT, for registrants interested in running for election to the College’s Board of Directors.
Open Positions
The Board is currently seeking:
- Three (3) Pharmacists – three‑year term
- Two (2) Pharmacy Technicians – three‑year term
Why Serve as a Board Director?
The Board of Directors is the oversight and policy-making group for the College who ensure the interests of the public are protected and maintained through the development of policies and regulations. The Board comprises competent leaders who set the strategy for the College and ensure that it fulfills its legislated mandate to serve the public interest and promote the delivery of quality, ethical and safe pharmacy services to Ontarians.
Serving as a member of the Board of Directors is an opportunity to play an important role in advancing the College’s legislated mandate to regulate the profession in the public interest. All Board Directors – pharmacy professionals elected to the Board, members of the public appointed by government, and academic appointees as required by statute – share a fiduciary duty to serve and protect the public interest.
Responsibilities and Time Commitment
Serving on the Board requires a meaningful commitment of time and attention. If elected to serve on the Board, you will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities and time commitments:
- The term of office for a Board Director is three years, effective September 2026
- The Board meets quarterly for 1-2 days per meeting (September, December, March, June). Meetings are held at the College’s office in Toronto
- Board Directors also serve on the Discipline Committee, as required under the Regulated Health Professions Act, with an expected commitment of approximately 20–25 panel days per year, plus two committee meetings
- Board Directors may also be appointed to other standing committees of the Board
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to run as a candidate, you must:
- be a registrant who holds a valid Certificate of Registration as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- practice or reside in Ontario
- be in good standing with OCP

In addition, please review the “Code of Conduct” for Directors and Committee members, which is an Appendix to Policy 3.7 in the Board of Directors Policy Booklet.
Steps to Run for Election to the Board
It is important that applicants fully understand and are able to meet Board and Discipline Committee time commitment obligations before applying.
Once you have confirmed you meet the eligibility requirements, please follow the steps below:

Applications will be screened in accordance with the Director Profile.
Application deadline: May 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EDT
Once the screening process is complete, you will be able to review a list of election candidates, along with their candidate statements.
Election and Voting
Voting opens: July 6, 2026
Voting closes: August 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EDT
Registrants will receive details on how to vote by email.
Voter Eligibility
Every registrant who holds a valid Certificate of Registration as a pharmacist or a pharmacy technician, who practices or resides in Ontario, does not have a shared email address (e.g., SandyandDave@gmail) and who is not in default of payment of the annual fee, is entitled to vote in the election. Through Simply Voting — a service provider specializing in secure and protected e-voting — the College will send all voters a notification when voting is open. Please be sure to check your spam folder or contact the College if you do not receive an email asking you to vote in the election by 5 p.m. on July 6, 2026.
Election Results
Following the election, independent scrutineers review detailed vote outcomes and submit a report to the College’s Board verifying the outcome of the election. The names of those elected are made publicly available on the College’s website.
