First Approved: April 2011
Last Revised: August 2025
Purpose
All applicants must meet the suitability for registration requirements. In their application for a Certificate of Registration, applicants are required to declare if they have been found guilty of or are the subject of a current proceeding for any offence in any jurisdiction [Reference: Clauses 8.(1)2 and 3 of O. Reg. 256/24 General Regulations under Pharmacy Act, 1991].
This policy defines offences that may be deemed to be minor and would allow an applicant to become a registrant of the College without referral to a Panel of the Registration Committee.
Scope
This policy applies to all applicants applying for a Certificate of Registration in any class.
Policy
An applicant who meets all registration requirements but reports that they have been found guilty of an offence, are charged with an offence, or received a penalty for academic misconduct that meets the Decision Criteria below will be granted a Certificate of Registration, at the discretion of the Registrar.
Decision Criteria
This policy is only applicable where the offence which the applicant has committed or been charged with or the penalty received related to academic misconduct:
- Relates to a matter which, if convicted, could not result in imprisonment; and
- Is, in the opinion of the Registrar, not relevant to the suitability of the applicant to become a registrant of the College.
If the offence is not deemed to be minor, the application will be referred to a panel of the Registration Committee for consideration of the applicant’s suitability for registration.
