Board & Committees

The governing Board of Directors meets four times a year and functions as the policy-making group for the College. The Board’s primary role is to ensure that the interests of the public are protected and maintained.

General conduct for the affairs of the Ontario College of Pharmacists is laid out in the College’s By-Law with further guidance provided in the Board of Directors Policy Booklet.

The College Board is made up of:

  • 7 elected pharmacists
  • 2 elected pharmacy technicians
  • 9 to 16 public members (appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario)
  • 3 Deans from the faculties of pharmacy at the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and University of Ottawa

College committees support the work of the Board. Committees are made up of elected pharmacy professionals, public members and professional committee appointees.

Statutory Committees are required through legislation:

  • Accreditation Committee
  • Discipline Committee
  • Executive Committee
  • Fitness to Practise Committee
  • Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee
  • Patient Relations Committee
  • Quality Assurance Committee
  • Registration Committee

Standing Committees are created by the Board through by-laws:

  • Drug Preparation Premises Committee
  • Finance & Audit Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • Screening Committee
