Following the principles of right-touch regulation and approval from the Board in March 2024, the College has developed a mandatory training course for registrants who are:
- new to the role of compounding supervisor
- current compounding supervisors in pharmacies where standards for non-sterile compounding are not being met
Each of the seven modules in the course focuses on a key component of the non-sterile compounding supervisor role, as outlined in the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Non-Sterile Preparations and accompanying guidance document. The training course also includes an additional module with two risk assessment scenarios that tie the learnings together.
The final exam must be taken in order to confirm completion of this training.
- Module 1 – Introduction to the Role of the Non-Sterile Compounding Supervisor
- Module 2 – Mastering Policies and Procedures for Non-Sterile Compounding Supervisors
- Module 3 – Assessing Risk Levels in Non-Sterile Compounding
- Module 4 – Training and Skills Assessment Completion for Non-Sterile Compounding Personnel
- Module 5 – Ensuring Facilities and Equipment Meet Requirements
- Module 6 – Product and Preparation Requirements
- Module 7 – Quality Assurance in Non-Sterile Compounding
- Practice – Risk Assessment Scenarios
- Non-Sterile Compounding Supervisor Training Course – Final Exam
This course is free of charge and available to anyone who wishes to refresh or strengthen their training.
