The Coyne Years
Canadian and World Political and Social Events
George V continued as the British monarch, while in Canada Robert L. Borden as the prime minister was succeeded by Arthur Meighen, then Mackenzie King, during the first year of his long occupancy of the position from 1921 to 1948.
World War I (1914-1918) with the end of Kaiser William’s rule in 1918 occupied the first half of Coyne’s practice in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The League of Nations and British Commonwealth of Nations followed, along with the International Court in the Hague and the International Labour Organization.
